History
FitSync founder Paul Wittrock, a former college athlete, seeking a better way of recording his personal fitness routines than on workout cards or notebooks, first developed the idea of a Web-linked, handheld fitness tracking system while working out in the gym. Wittrock's goal was to provide fitness enthusiasts like himself as well as professional athletes, coaches, and fitness professionals with an alternative to the traditional paper tracking methods. His invention would enable simplified mobile recording of exercise activity, provide powerful data management tools, and facilitate communication between athletes and their trainers. Wittrock was awarded United States patent #5,944,633 for his invention of a "Handheld Workout Tracker" and in 1999 founded FitSync Corporation.
